Let’s start with the basic verb, i.e. rent an apartment from someone. In Georgian it will be ქირაობა (kiraoba) – to rent something from someone. The full conjugation of this verb is as follows:

მე ვქირაობ (me vkiraob)
შენ ქირაობ (shen kiraob)
ის ქირაობს (is kiraobs)
ჩვენ ვქირაობთ (chven vkiraobt)
თქვენ ქირაობთ (tkven kiraobt)
ისინი ქირაობენ (isini kiraoben)

How do I use the verb to rent in Georgian?

The variety itself is half the success. You also need to know the appropriate constructions with this verb, i.e. how to say that you are renting something. So in Georgian what you rent will be in 3 cases:

ბინას ვქირაობ. (binas vkiraob) – I rent a flat

ბინა – a flat/ an apartment

How to say I want to rent a flat in Georgian?

Before you rent an apartment in Georgia, you will need one more phrase from the series on how to rent a flat in Georgian. This is where the phrase I want to rent an apartment comes in handy, which in Georgian is:

მინდა ბინა ვიქირაო (minda bina vikirao)

For grammar fans, we would like to add that this form of the verb to rent in Georgian is optative – a form about which you can read more in a separate lesson about the Georgian optative. Also note that the word dwelling (ბინა – bina) is now written in 1 case, in its dictionary form.

An alternative to this phrase could be:

გათბობა (gatboba) – heating

It’s not like every apartment in Georgia has some form of heating. It is worth asking whether there is one, whether it is in each room and what form of heating it is, because the amount of your fees depends on it.

ცხელი წყალი (tskheli ts’qali) – hot water

Another thing worth asking – is it municipal or from hot springs under the building (especially in Tbilisi), how is it heated and whether it is in both the bathroom and the kitchen (because it varies)

აივანი (aivani) – balcony
ავეჯი (avedji) – furniture
კონდიციონერი (kondicioneri) – air conditioning

Depending on the season, it can be useful, especially in cities.
